How to prevent hair loss in postmenopausal women

Hormonal changes associated with menopause can cause hair loss problem in women. Approximately 30% of women going through the various stages of menopause may experience hair loss. Fortunately, you can prevent hair loss in postmenopausal women with some simple but effective measures.
 
1. Change your diet to one that is low in fat and high in fiber. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Includes essential fatty acids (flaxseed oil or cod liver oil) and vitamin C from fruits and vegetables in your diet.
 
2. Take a multivitamin and mineral supplements. Be sure to include vitamin B6, vitamin E, biotin and zinc, which can stimulate hair growth. You can also use herbal supplements such as saw palmetto and green tea extract.
 
3. Get a scalp massage to stimulate circulation and hair growth.
 
4. Minimize the use of harsh treatments such as bleaching, hair dyes, hair straighteners and permanent that can damage scalp and hair. Improving the condition of hair and reduce hair loss by using essential oils like rosemary, sage or oil carrot seed on a weekly basis.
 
5. Refrain from washing your hair every day to prevent hair loss. Avoid exposing your hair to chlorinated water too. This can cause damage, in order to get a shower filter.
 
6. Check the high stress and negative emotions, which may cause hair loss. To relieve stress, try yoga, meditation, music or exercise.
 
7. Check the drugs that you take. Some medications such as anticoagulants, thyroid pills and beta blockers can also cause hair loss. To prevent hair loss in postmenopausal women due to these drugs, it is advisable to consult a doctor and get an evaluation.
